Overview
The Association of Crime Scene Reconstruction (ACSR) is dedicated to advancing the science and practice of crime scene reconstruction. As part of our mission, we are proud to offer an annual research grant of $500 to support groundbreaking projects that contribute to the field of crime scene reconstruction. This grant is designed to encourage and enable students and practitioners to pursue meaningful research, develop innovative methodologies, and drive the discipline forward.

 

Who Should Apply
This grant is available to all ACSR members and students in forensic science, law enforcement, academia, and other related fields. Ideal candidates are those who are passionate about crime scene reconstruction and interested in contributing new knowledge or techniques to improve accuracy, methodology, or application in real-world scenarios.

 

Grant Focus
We are seeking research projects that align with the goals and mission of the ACSR, particularly those that:

  • Develop or refine methods for crime scene reconstruction

  • Address challenges or limitations in current reconstruction techniques

  • Innovate in digital or technological approaches to evidence interpretation

  • Enhance the scientific understanding of physical evidence dynamics

 

Whether you’re exploring advanced technology applications, new reconstruction techniques, or interdisciplinary approaches, we encourage proposals that push the boundaries of current knowledge.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Current student in a related field or an ACSR member

  • A research proposal that is relevant to crime scene reconstruction

  • Research must be completed within 12 months of award.

  • Upon project completion, a research article related to the proposal must be submitted to the ACSR Journal for peer review and potential publication, or the research may be presented at the following year's annual training conference.  

 

Application Process
Applicants are required to submit a detailed proposal, including:

  • A summary of the research topic and objectives

  • Proposed methodology and anticipated outcomes

  • A brief budget overview outlining how the grant funds will be utilized

 

Applications are reviewed by the ACSR President-Elect.
